Milano Serravalle Engineering is overseeing the widening works of the southbound carriageway of the A51 – Tangenziale Est di Milano, along the section between the Forlanini interchange and the new Mecenate–CAMM exit, managed by Milano Serravalle – Milano Tangenziali S.p.A.. The project aims to expand the carriageway from three to five lanes.
As part of this intervention, the construction of the new Via Fantoli viaduct is also underway. The works are being carried out in phases to ensure continuity of traffic flow.
The launching operations of the main steel girders for Phase 1, concerning the new right-hand half of the southbound carriageway, have now been completed. During these works, traffic is maintained on the existing section, with three lanes of reduced width.
The launching of the girders represents a key milestone in the progress of the project and will allow the start of subsequent works, including the construction of the concrete deck slab and the completion of the viaduct.
The new deck is designed as a composite steel-concrete structure, with a continuous beam static scheme supported by intermediate and lateral bearings.
