Milan Serravalle – Milan Tangenziali S.p.A. is conducting an investigation campaign aimed at improving the understanding of certain prestressed reinforced concrete structures along the A53: Pavia – Bereguardo connector, an activity for which Milan Serravalle Engineering S.r.l. is responsible for coordinating on-site safety.
On structure CV6, representative of a series of six similar works located along the same section and built in the same period, tests and samplings were carried out in order to assess the construction details and the mechanical properties of the materials.
Extensive ground-penetrating radar (GPR) surveys were also performed, followed by localized tomography and endoscopy investigations, which were useful to accurately identify the prestressing reinforcements and assess their state of preservation.
Finally, the overall behavior of the structure was examined through dynamic testing, used to validate and refine numerical models developed with structural analysis and calculation software. Milan Serravalle Engineering oversaw safety management on-site.
